The main issue gamers complained about Razer’s last gaming keyboard, Tarantula, was the lack of backlit keys, which made it difficult to game in dark environments. It seems Razer heard gamers loud and clear, as the latest Razer keyboard Lycosa will feature backlit keys. Besides having backlit keys, gamers will also have the option to only have the WASD keys backlit.

One feature I’m looking forward to personally is the ability to disable the Windows Key. I learned long ago that the Windows Key was my enemy when it came to gaming. It’s always the same drill, I’d buy a new keyboard, jump into my favorite FPS and some where along the line I die due to an accidental Windows Key press during a firefight. At this point I’ve blurted out a few 4-letter words and proceed to physically remove the Windows Key from my keyboard, this leads to lots of questions from friends when they see my keyboard.

“Aren’t you missing a ke…”

“Don’t ask”

Razer goes a step further by adding a rubber finish to keys for slip resistance. Hard to tell whether this feature will actually make a difference in gaming, I’ll have to drop by a local electronics store and give the Lycosa the pat down, CSI style.

The Lycosa will also feature 1 USB port and microphone / headphone jacks.

The Lycosa is by no means a cheap keyboard, priced at $79.99, I may stick to buying cheaper keyboards and manually removing Windows Keys…
