I’ve always preferred to build my own PC systems, but Gateway One is making me think twice. Gateway One is not your typical prebuilt PC, for one it’s made of mobile grade parts, this helps to reduce the overall size as well as keep temperatures down, which in turn allows the system to run with lower fan speeds to keep noise at a minimum. Perhaps the term elegant is overly used, but I really do mean it when I call the Gateway One’s design elegant, it’s simply beautiful.

Cords, wires, cables, where have you gone?

The Gateway One strives for a totally wireless design, coming with both wireless keyboard and mouse, the only cord connected to the desktop is for power. The power bar provides additional I/O ports for those not satisfied with the 3 USB and 1 Firewire built into the desktop. The power bar doubling as I/O interface is a great idea, keeping wires on the floor and out of sight.

You’ll probably notice that there is no speaker grills on the Gateway One, but I assure you it does have built in speakers. Supposedly even without clear openings the Gateway One should have good audio clarity with the use of SoundVu technology.

The Gateway One desktop comes in three variants. The first two models, GZ7108 and ZX190, use Intel Core 2 Duo T5250 1.5GHz processor (Napa based) and 2GB of RAM. The only major differences between the GZ 7108 and ZX190 is graphics and hard drive space, the GZ7108 has Intel X3100 for graphics and 320GB SATAII (7200RPM) HDD, while the ZX190 gains a more advanced graphics card, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600XT, and additional storage space, 400GB. The last model, GZ7220, comes with a faster processor, Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 2GHz processor (Santa Rosa based), 3GB of RAM and 500GB HDD (7200RPM). This model also comes with an analog/digital TV tuner.

All three models will sport a 19-inch display with a max resolution of 1440×900.

The prices for the Gateway One models range from $1,300 to $1,800.
