I, like many other mylo owners, waited for Sony to beef up the device’s functionality through firmware updates, which never really happened. I had doubts about a Sony mylo 2, after the less than encouraging sales of the original, but it looks like Sony is giving the mylo a second shot. One of the features I noticed, which I’m sure will make tons of mylo lovers rejoice, is AIM support, if I had a penny for every email I received about lack of AIM support…

Another great addition is widgets, you can think of them as mini applications you can add to the mylo 2, such as Facebook notifier, RSS feeds, etc. If you’re interested in developing your own widgets, Sony will open developer registration at the end of this month. Opening up widget development to the public will help the mylo 2 blossom, much like the Nokia N800 benefited from the applications created by it’s users.

The screen received a nice upgrade going from a 2.5-inch display to 3.5-inch, no details were given as to what resolution the new screen will support. The display will also support touch input, I’m looking forward to testing this feature to see how well it’s implemented.

The mylo 2 will also support flash, allowing us to watch Youtube and various other video streaming websites. The flash software is referred to as Adobe Flash Lite 3 in the press release, so it’s not safe to say it will fully support flash just yet, we’ll have to wait and see once the mylo hits shelves later this month.

The Mylo 2 looks HOT. I agree that this might actually be what we had all hoped for in the original Mylo.

    just curious,

Yes you can, you’ll need to pay a small fee to get this ability, visit skype.com and read about SkypeIn and SkypeOut, these features let you make and receive calls with mobile/landlines.
